The Igloo Crew
Owner, Letterpress Aficionado
Starting on her career path early, Allison enjoyed helping her granddad in his hobby printshop. His equipment forms the core of Igloo's printing and bookbinding studio in Ohio.
Beth has made a career out of collecting oddball skills, supporting the arts, and managing small creative companies…which lead her directly to Igloo! Today she keeps the gears turning as the studio director. She also prides herself on being married to the incredible Mr. BreakfastwithNick, a co-founder of Wild Goose Creative, and mother to two very loud little boys.
Nicki came to intern at Igloo while she was finishing up her masters degree at CCAD. She quickly learned that she had fallen into a group of like-minded obsessive-compulsive makers, and once your part of that kind of gang, it’s really hard to leave. Blood in, blood out. Since graduating she’s taken on the Production Manager position at Igloo and enjoys sharing her perfectionist powers with everyone that walks in the door.
Nick comes from a background in printmaking. Being trained as a printmaker is a great advantage working at Igloo, as attention to detail and process based thinking comes in handy in every aspect of his job as Production Artist.
Kate's dream of running a stationery store began with her childhood love in the 80's of Sanrio, Mrs. Grossman's stickers, Lisa Frank and Hallmark kid's stationery. She still relishes in paper and ephemera from all decades and mediums but knows that the only way to truly love these gems is to share them! She's determined to bring letter writing back, one card at at a time...starting with the gems found at Igloo Letterpress!
Heather came to us wanting to learn more and stretch her creative legs. With her attention to detail and her production knowledge, she has not only taken over teaching our Letterpress for Graphic Designers class, she helps other designers get their files correct to ensure a beautiful print job. Heather enjoys practicing her hand lettering and calligraphy and finding ways she can integrate it into work she does for her clients through her design studio. When she grows up, she wants to be a beekeeper.
Like a barnacle to a ship, Rachel is the intern that Igloo just couldn't shake. Nearly a decade later, she works with Igloo as an in-house designer, helping to bring ideas to life. Rachel moonlights as a fancy business woman at her design studio, Imaginary Beast.
She called herself a Printer's Devil until Beth dubbed her the Type Angel. She has taken on the task of organizing and cataloguing every piece of type at Igloo. And, yes, she actually volunteered for this daunting task!
Fun fact: Lani comes from a long line of people involved in the printing profession. One ancestor was Johannes Gutenberg's partner in Strasbourg. He continued printing in Strasbourg after Gutenberg returned to Mainz.
